Autumn is a beautiful time of year in the Napa Valley: the grape harvest is in, and the wineries are ready to celebrate!
Many wineries started the party in September, but two of Candlelight Inn’s favorites are in October.
The evening of the 12th, Ceja Vineyards is hosting their Dia de Los Muertos Harvest Fiesta! This event proves to be an amazing celebration of both the harvest and the Day of the Dead. A Ceremonial alter, live mariachi band, Aztec Ritual Dancers, and a Best Dressed Skeleton costume contest are just a few reasons to attend this stunning event.
The afternoon of the 26th is Acacia’s Farm to Table Harvest Party and 35th Anniversary Celebration. The afternoon will be full of gourmet food, limited production hand crafted wines, and new releases. For their birthday celebration, Acacia will be bottling a special anniversary magnum of Pinot Noir.
You could easily spend all of October’s weekends celebrating the harvest.
Merryvale is hosting their Harvest Party & Profile Barrel Tasting on the 13th. Schedule an afternoon of BBQ, wine, and entertainment. Wine features include current releases, library wines, and a barrel sample of the 2012 Profile “thieved directly from a French oak barrel.”
On the 12th, learn about the work of harvest at Luna Vineyards. You will participate in the full process – from sorting to the fermentation tanks – and then sit down to a gourmet lunch and glass of wine. If you would like to skip the work and go straight to the wine, attend Luna’s harvest celebration on the 19th, under the full moon.
St. Helena’s Annual Hometown Harvest Festival on the 19th is a great family-friendly way to celebrate the harvest and the season.
Another way to enjoy the festivities as a family is the Harvest Festival at Connolly Ranch. Enjoy apple pressing, scarecrow making, as well as fresh and local food at Connolly Ranch where kids and families learn about farm life, sustainability, and appreciating nature.
Round out your harvest parties with a Gourmet Napa Walking Tour – offered every Friday and Sunday. Put on by Gourmet Walks, you’ll spend three hours walking around Napa sampling from seven separate restaurants. This one mile, flat, walk is a superb way to become familiar, and fall in love, with Napa.
The Candlelight Inn wants to make your celebration of the grape harvest an exciting and rejuvenating experience. A weekend with us provides a luxurious backdrop to your many scheduled events around the Napa Valley.
