In the San Francisco Bay Area, autumn is festival season, and Wine Country is no exception. This is a region where the weather can be at its best in September and October and people are outside enjoying it.
On September 21st, join the Manaleo Hawaiian Cultural Foundation at the 6th annual Napa Valley Aloha Festival and gain some Aloha spirit without crossing the ocean. Members of the Hawaiian and Polynesian communities from all over the West Coast and Hawaii come together to offer you live entertainment and authentic food while vendors offer arts, crafts, clothing, and wares.
The Napa Valley Museum is putting on its Oktober Fest & Car Show; also on the 21st. Check out classic, antique, and sports cars as well as hot rods and motorcycles from around the Bay Area. Of course, no Oktober Fest event would be complete without traditional German Oktoberfest music, beer, pretzels, and German food.
Autumn is also harvest season, and there are many one-time and on-going events, such as the Grape Stomp at Grgich Hills Estate. The stomping started on Labor Day weekend and will continue through Halloween. Entry includes stomping, wine tasting, and an “I stomped at Grgich Hills” T-shirt featuring your own grape juiced footprints!
As they say, it takes a lot of beer to make a good wine, and wine country has several Oktober Fest events. CHEERS! St. Helena is holding theirs on October 4th. Take part in local beer, brats, pretzels, and Oompah band Grand Isle Fire Brigade. To round things out, The Michael Thomason Band will be rocking out on Adams Street! Entry is free, but a $35 tasting pass gives you access to taste all the wines at the event.
October 19th is the St. Helena Harvest Festival bringing several wineries together to celebrate the end of the harvest. With a fun run, pet parade, live music, food and craft booths, wine pouring stations, and a kids’ carnival, this is a great day for the whole family!
Turn your festival attendance into a sublime weekend with the ultimate in private wine tastings offered in Candlelight Inn’s Connoisseur package.
